In an open-air venue, and with extra precautions in place due to the ongoing pandemic, the 8th edition of the Meeting Camper exhibition attracted a large number of exhibitors and visitors to its unique forest location in Girona, Spain, this June. WhisperPower was in the thick of it with their brand new double-decker bus converted for off-grid living, introducing the visitors and trade alike to the new range of off-grid power products, ideally suited to this kind of wilderness exploration.
The event is described on the website as 'the vocation of bringing together lovers of travel and the overland world with professionals from the sector for a meeting' and it didn't disappoint.
The three-day meeting was held over the 18-20th June and benefitted from an extra 6,000m2 of tree-lined parkland to safely accommodate 80 exhibitors, plus another 20 travellers with their own booths. Around 400 visiting camper vans stayed on site overnight and 3,000 visitors a day enjoyed the outdoor presentations. WhisperPower was one of the exhibitors giving technical demonstrations aimed at making the traveling lifestyle more comfortable and enjoyable by accessing mains power from batteries and renewables.
For WhisperPower's Spanish dealership, it was a useful opportunity to not only meet the public, but also chat to the trade once the show had closed for the evening.
"For me, it was very important to network with the main camper builders, all collected together in the same place," said Patricio Blanco, WhisperPower's Area Sales Manager for Southern Europe. "There were some major names there, such as Bimbos Van, Camper Cas, Cactus Garage, Bram, Bivac Camper and several others. As many were fully equipped with WhisperPower's latest products, including the new OctoPower 7, the builders were able to demonstrate the versatility of off-grid living to potential customers."
With such new interest in 'staycationing' and the freedom to roam off the grid, this year saw an extra 500 visitors a day to the 14,000m2 site, some arriving in all manner of converted vehicles, including trucks, vans, and buses.
"We noticed that many of these were already using WhisperPower products that they had installed themselves," Patricio said.
The dates and venue for the 9th edition are yet to be announced, yet judging by the success of this year's event, will be very well attended by trade and public alike.
